Details Here: Another announcement was that Liz Roche Company has the honour to be invited to be Company-in-Residence with Dublin Dance Festival from 2017–2019. This exciting new initiative will explore new ways of researching, making and experiencing dance, both during and beyond the Festival dates, over a sustained 3-year period. Audience members, artists and academics from a broad range of disciplines will be invited to input and engage with this creative journey as it unfolds.
Roche will also mentor younger choreographers and dancers, opening up the work of the Company to them through workshops, classes and rehearsal opportunities. This residency represents the unique development of a relationship which began with a fledgling residency in the early days of the Festival. Liz Roche Company has contributed to the Festival’s programme ever since, most recently with Bastard Amber, a DDF co-commission at the Abbey Theatre, and Liz was director of DDF’s Embodied at the GPO. Planned activities for 2017 include: a studio-sharing as part of First Looks during the Festival in May see DDF; the world premiere of Totems at the National Gallery of Ireland in July; and a dance audience development initiative and performances in association with the Civic Theatre, Tallaght.
