Re-creation of Bastard Amber at Lasalle College of the Arts Singapore 2019

During February 2019, Liz Roche Company dancer Sarah Cerneaux spent three weeks in Singapore at Lasalle College of the Arts in order to remount our 2015 work Bastard Amber on the graduating contemporary dance students. The work will be performed April 4th, 5th, 6th 2019.  LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore is a leading tertiary institution in cutting edge contemporary arts and design education and practice.

SARAH CERNEAUX started street dancing at the age of 17 in France. After completing her degree, she moved to Paris and kept learning with teachers such as Corinne Lanselle, Carolyn Carlson, Julyen Hamilton and Junior Almeida. Since then she has worked with Abou Lagraa Company (2006-2014), Christine Bastin, David Drouard Company, Vincent Mantsoé and Maryse Delente Company . She joined Akram Khan Company in November 2014 and toured the production ‘Kaash’ for 2 years. Since then she has danced with Liz Roche Company in Bastard Amber, Wrongheaded, Pilgrimage and I/Thou and continues to teach repertory for the Akram Khan Company.

Dublin Youth Dance Company

Liz worked with the dancers in Dublin Youth Dance Company to create a short piece that was performed in Malahide and Trinity College on November 4th for Stop Climate Chaos. This event marked the Citizens Assembly on the topic of ‘How the State can make Ireland a Leader in Tackling Climate Change'. Liz Roche Company has continued their relationship with Dublin Youth Dance Company working again with the young dancers on NÄHER…. CLOSER, NEARER, SOONER, commissioned by Goethe Institut Irland for Dublin Fringe Festival 2018 and again in February 2019.

Dublin Youth Theatre

Liz led two creative dance workshops with Dublin Youth Theatre on February 3rd and 10th 2018. This is part of an on-going project between DYT and Liz Roche Company that is moving towards a new performance in 2018.

It follows workshops held in April 2017 collaborating with Kevin Murphy and a film project with members of DYT Rhizomes from 2016 as part of Liz Roche Company's Time over Distance Over Time.
